Teach For America– St. Louis is pleased to name Ana Barrios (STL ’10) as our second annual TFA- St. Louis HuSTLe Award for Diversity. Ana was nominated by her principal, Dr. Beth Bender. In her nomination, Dr. Bender shared the many ways in which Ana embodies Diversity in her daily work: “Ana is the model of a giving educator. She works passionately in her classroom, in afterschool activities with the Robotics team and the school Cultural Day Activities and Assembly-in this area she has been a huge advocate for our large ESOL and minority population. As an educator students like and respect her because she is authentic, caring and has high expectations WITH support to get them there. As a colleague she is there for EVERYONE, assisting teachers, modeling, leading PD. I wish I could clone her.”
Ana is in her fifth year teaching algebra at Gateway STEM High school. Keep up the great work!
Nominations are open for our March Award for Leadership. It only takes a few minutes!
