The St. Louis American has announced the 2015 class of Young Leaders under 30. These incredible movers and shakers will be profiled in February 19th edition of the paper and honored at a reception that evening. The group twenty individuals are selected by a body of their peers, and includes our very own Charli Cooksey, STL ’09, the co-founder and Executive Director of inspireSTL.
Charli grew up in St. Louis and attended Carr Lane Middle School. She founded inspireSTL along with three other Teach For America teachers teaching at Compton Drew ILC Middle School. Since its start, inspireSTL has grown impressively and currently offers over 100 students across St. Louis City year-round academic, social, and emotional support, as well as leadership development services. Students attend some of the top-performing high schools in St. Louis, including Metro, Carnahan, MICDS, SLUH, Whitfield, Villa Duchesne, and McKinley. This year, the first class of inspireSTL scholars have been accepted to four year colleges across the nation, including St. Louis University, Mizzou, Spelman College, Howard University, and Kansas State.
