Some Exciting News About Institute 2014!

Teach For America – St. Louis Family,

Many of you may have already heard whisperings of some exciting news, and we are finally ready to confirm the story:  St. Louis plans to host a Regional Institute, also known as a Continuous Program Pilot, right here in The Lou starting Summer 2014!

We are thrilled to stand alongside 4 other regions in the second wave of this pilot.  This past summer, Jacksonville and Memphis hosted successful regional institutes, and we believe there are multiple benefits to following suit, marrying the spirit and tenacity of our region with this unique experience and further unlocking the potential of our corps members, alumni, and students:

Who is poised to lead this exciting innovation?  None other than St. Louis alum Abby Crawford (STL ’04).  Many of you may know Abby from her time both in the corps, teaching at Confluence Old North, or from her time on staff as a content specialist, program director (now MTLD), LA Institute School Director, and Managing Director of Program for the LA Institute since 2011.  Abby comes with a great deal of instructional and institute experience and we’re incredibly thrilled that one of St. Louis’ very own will be leading this charge!

There are many details to be ironed out as we press forward and lay the groundwork for an impactful summer experience for our students, corps members, alumni, staff, and partners.  In the meantime, please share any thoughts, ideas, or just your excitement with myself or Colette, who has been instrumental in getting this work off the ground.

Look out for next steps and ways you can be engaged soon!

Together in the movement,

Brittany
